Hi @09221

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your HP P1102W laser printer turns on but only the green and orange lights are flashing, and the blue light doesn't come on, it typically indicates a firmware or hardware issue, often related to the wireless connectivity, the toner, or an internal error.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot this issue:

1. Check for Paper Jams

  • Open the printer and ensure there are no paper jams anywhere inside, particularly around the toner area or paper path. Paper jams can cause lights to flash without the printer fully operating.
  • Remove any jammed paper carefully and reset the printer.

2. Check the Toner Cartridge

  • Open the toner cartridge compartment and make sure the toner cartridge is properly seated. If it’s loose or not correctly installed, the printer will fail to operate properly.
  • If the toner cartridge is low or empty, replace it with a new toner cartridge.

3. Reset the Printer

Sometimes a hard reset can help clear the error:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cable from the back of the printer.
  3. Wait for 1 minute and then plug the printer back in and turn it on again.

This can reset the printer and might resolve the flashing light issue.

4. Check the Wireless Connection

The blue light typically indicates the wireless connection status, so if it isn't lighting up, there could be an issue with the Wi-Fi connection.

  • Ensure the printer is within range of your Wi-Fi router.
  • Check the router settings to ensure that there is no issue with the network.
  • You might need to reset the wireless settings:
    • Hold the wireless button (on the printer’s control panel) for about 5 seconds. This will reset the printer's wireless settings, and the blue light should start blinking.
    • After that, reconnect the printer to the Wi-Fi network using the HP Smart app or Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS).

5. Update Printer Firmware

A firmware issue could be causing the flashing lights:

  1. Check for updates to the printer’s firmware.
  2. Use the HP Smart app or the HP website to download and install the latest firmware for the printer.
  3. If the printer is already up to date, try reinstalling the printer driver on your computer.

6. Check the Printer for Internal Errors

If none of the above steps work, the issue could be an internal error with the printer. You can perform a self-test or check the printer's status report to get more information:

  1. With the printer turned on, press and hold the Go button for about 10 seconds. This will initiate a test page or error report.
  2. If an error code or message is printed, refer to your printer's manual or the HP website for specific troubleshooting steps for that error.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
