Hello,

I’m experiencing an issue with my HP Smart Tank 519 printer, it shows on the control panel an exclamation mark next to a paper icon.

I’ve already checked for and removed any visible paper jams, opened the front and rear access areas, cleaned the rollers, ensured the paper is properly loaded and aligned, and restarted the printer.

Despite this, the error still appears and the printer won’t print. I would appreciate help resolving this issue as soon as possible.

Thank you !

Hi @amnaalmarzooqii,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Recheck Paper Loading:

  • Ensure that the paper is properly loaded, not exceeding the tray capacity, and aligned correctly.
  • Make sure the paper guides are snug against the paper stack without bending the paper.

Inspect for Hidden Jams:

  • Sometimes small pieces of paper can be stuck and are not easily visible. Carefully check all paper paths, including the input and output trays.

Use Correct Paper Type:

  • Verify that you're using the recommended paper type and size. HP papers are usually the best choice for compatibility.

Reset the Printer:

  • With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the power source and wait about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the power source and the printer, then turn on the printer.

Update Firmware:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer that might address known issues. You can do this through the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP Support website.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor from HP's support site. It can automatically resolve many printing issues.

Examine Sensor Mechanisms:

  • Sometimes the sensors related to paper input can be obstructed or malfunctioning. Ensure they are clean and unobstructed.

I hope this helps.
