Hi Team,

My HP Smart tank 7000 automatically power off after some time when its idle.

I have checked all settings and they are all fine.

There is no Power saving option enabled, I have even factory reset but the problem is still there.

Also I am not able to upgrade the latest firmware on the HP Printer.

Is there any printer trouble shooting PDF guide or manual to check all options.

I have done all the diagnostic check and color testing and they are all good.

The problem is only its keep powering off automatically after some time,

Hi @kashanq,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

You're doing everything right. Given that your HP Smart Tank 7000 keeps powering off automatically when idle, even after a factory reset and with no power-saving settings enabled, this behaviour is not normal

What You Can Still Try:

1. HP Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  1. Print a network configuration page to find the printer’s IP address.
  2. Open a browser and go to http://[IP Address] (e.g., http://192.168.1.45)
  3. Log in (the default password may be on a sticker on the printer or blank).
  4. Go to Settings > Power Management or System > Preferences, and check for options like:
    • Auto-Off
    • Sleep Timer
    • Energy Save Mode

Sometimes these options appear only in the web UI, not on the printer screen.

2. Firmware Update Not Working

If you're unable to update the firmware, let’s get that fixed too — a firmware bug could explain the power-off issue.

Option A: Update via HP Smart App

  1. Open the HP Smart app (on PC or phone).
  2. Go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings (or EWS).
  3. Look for Printer Updates or Product Updates.
  4. Run the update.

If it says “No update available” or fails to connect, we may need to manually update using a file.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
