@CYD11NEWS, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The “Printer Failure” message on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus (N911g) typically indicates a hardware issue often related to the printhead, internal electronics, or a firmware fault. Let’s walk through some steps to help resolve this:

Power Reset

This clears temporary hardware faults.

  • With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord from the back.
  • Unplug it from the wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in directly to a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
  • Turn the printer on and check if the error clears.

Check for Printhead Issues

This model uses a removable printhead. If it’s clogged or misaligned, it can trigger failure.

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove all cartridges.
  • Lift the latch and gently remove the printhead.
  • Clean the electrical contacts with a lint-free cloth and distilled water.
  • Reinstall the printhead and cartridges.
  • Close the door and restart the printer.

Update Firmware (if accessible)

If the printer still powers on and connects to Wi-Fi or USB:

Serial Number Not Recognized?

If HP’s support portal doesn’t recognize your serial number:

  • Double-check the label on the back or inside the cartridge access area.
  • Make sure there are no extra spaces or typos.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
