Hi @Jaybyday,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're having a frustrating issue with your HP Envy 4500. Here are some steps you can take to try to resolve the problem:

1. Check Printer Connection:

  • Wi-Fi Status: Ensure that your printer is indeed connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone and computer. You can usually check the Wi-Fi status on the printer’s control panel or display.
  • Restart Printer: Sometimes a simple restart can help. Turn off the printer, wait a minute, and turn it back on.

2. Check Network Settings:

  • Network Configuration: Print a network configuration page from the printer’s menu to verify the network settings. This can help you confirm that the printer is connected to the correct network.
  • Router Issues: Restart your router to refresh the network connection. Sometimes the issue can be with the router rather than the printer.

3. Re-add Printer to Devices:

  • On Your Computer:
    1. Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
    2. Click Add a printer or scanner and wait for your printer to appear.
    3. If it doesn’t appear, click The printer that I want isn’t listed, and then follow the on-screen instructions to add it manually.
  • On Your Phone:
    • If you’re using an app like HP Smart, try re-adding the printer by selecting Add Printer and following the setup process.

4. Update Printer Drivers and Software:

  • HP Smart App: Make sure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your phone or computer.
  • Driver Update: On your computer, go to the HP support website, search for your printer model, and download and install the latest drivers.

5. Check Printer Settings:

  • Network Setup: Ensure the printer’s network settings are correctly configured. If needed, reset the network settings and reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

6. Reset Printer:

  • Factory Reset: As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on the printer to restore its default settings. Refer to your printer’s manual or HP’s support website for instructions on how to do this.

7. Firewall/Security Settings:

  • Firewall or Antivirus: Check if your firewall or antivirus software is blocking the printer. You might need to add an exception for the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
