HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer

1) The Back Plate of the Printer is missing (just the Factory insert not the two sided upgrade) lost in moving.

  Do I have to have that black plate on or closed in order to print? My other printer has to have Everything Closed.

2) Also I am getting an error "There is a problem with the printer or Ink system"  seems to be a regular thing for this model??

   Alot of mis-handling by movers. I have done all the trouble shooting given by HP

@G2fresh,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Back Plate Missing

The factory insert (rear access panel) is necessary for the printer to function properly. Without it, the paper path is exposed, which can cause paper feed issues.

If you lost the original insert, you can try taping a temporary cover over the opening, but for long-term use, you should get a replacement.

"Problem with Printer or Ink System" Error

This error is common on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8610, especially after rough handling or prolonged use. Since movers mishandled it, possible causes include:

Cartridge Displacement: Remove and reseat all ink cartridges.

Printhead Issue: Try removing and reinstalling the printhead. If it's damaged, it may need replacement.

Air Bubbles in Ink System: Running multiple cleaning cycles may help.

Internal Damage: A loose connection or internal component damage from the move could be causing this.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
