@dhmekala_9, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP Smart Tank 580 printer is not printing and seems to be stuck, particularly with a paper jam issue, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

Determine Possible Jam Locations

The paper jam may occur in several parts of the printer, including:

  1. Input Tray
  2. Output Tray
  3. Printhead Access Area
  4. Bottom of the Printer

Jam locations

Steps to Remove Jammed Paper

Input Tray:

  • Press the Cancel button to attempt to cancel printing. If the jam persists, gently remove any accessible jammed paper from the input tray.
Remove jammed paper from the input tray

Output Tray:

  • Cancel the print job and try to gently pull any visible jammed paper out of the output tray.
    Pull out jammed paper

Printhead Access Area:

  • Open the printhead access door, ensure the print carriage is not obstructed by jams, and remove any foreign objects.
    Slide print carriage to right

Bottom of the Printer:

  • Lift the printer slightly if needed and remove any paper through the bottom access area.
    Remove jammed paper

Clean the Paper Feed Rollers

  • Accumulated dust might cause jams. Clean the rollers through the printer's interface or manually if needed.

Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait 60 seconds, then reconnect and turn it back on.

Prevent Future Jams

  • Always load paper properly and ensure the input tray shield is intact to prevent foreign objects from entering the print area.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
