Hi @tallnsb,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer is not printing or copying, and you see the scan light blinking on and off, try the following troubleshooting steps:

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open all access doors and check for any paper jams. Remove any jammed paper carefully.

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink. Replace any empty or low cartridges.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.

Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or HP’s website.

Check for Error Messages:

  • Look at the printer’s display panel for any error messages or codes, and refer to the user manual or HP’s support site for guidance on those errors.

Clean the Scanner:

  • If the scanning light is blinking, it might be an indication of a problem with the scanner. Clean the scanner glass and the white strip (if visible) with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Check Connections:

  • Make sure all cables are securely connected. If you're using a wireless connection, ensure that the printer is connected to the same network as your computer.

Perform a Self-Test:

  • Print a self-test report or printer diagnostics page to check if the printer is functioning correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
