HP7740 stopped printing, but scanning works

HP Recommended
HP7740
macOS 10.15 Catalina

My HP7740 stopped printing out of nowhere. The "printing" wheel is just spinning. I checked everything like paperformat, ink level, error messages, tried to update the firmware without success, tried to print a test page without success. I was able to scan to my email with success.

The printer worked fine for 2 to 3 years and one day decided to stop working.

Come on guys, how can we trust self driving cars if the hardware and operating system manufacturers can not even take the 30 year old printing nightmare away from the users. Mac works normally just fine. Windows always was a bleep. This HP printer worked well until now.

Any help available to get this going again? How to perform a factory reset? Is it true that I need a private message from HP in order to get a factory reset accomplished? What a nightmare!

Hi @Andy_DU,

I'd like to help!

To provide an accurate solution, please help me with the below details-

  1. Are you able to make copies using the printer?
  2. What's the application you are trying to print from? Have you tried printing from a different application or device?
  3. What happens when you try and print, does it give you an error?
  4. Are you able to print, printer test pages?
  5. How is the printer connected to the device USB or wireless?

Let me know!
