HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a

The printer - HP8600 - suddenly started printing with an extremely wide left margin (2+ inches). This includes the Windows Printer Test Page. The behavior is irrespective of the program (Word, Windows Explorer). Drivers are reported to be the most recent.

1. Check Printer Settings

  • Paper Size and Type: Ensure the paper size and type settings on the printer match the paper loaded in the tray.
  • Alignment and Calibration: Perform a print head alignment and calibration from the printer's control panel or software.

2. Verify Print Settings on the Computer

  • Margin Settings: Check the margin settings in the print dialog of the application you're using.
  • Page Layout: Ensure that the page layout settings are correct for the document you're printing.

3. Reset the Printer

  • Power Cycle: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Factory Reset: Perform a factory reset from the printer’s menu. Refer to the user manual for specific instructions.

4. Update or Reinstall Drivers

Even though you have the most recent drivers, sometimes reinstalling them can resolve issues.

  • Uninstall Current Drivers: Go to Device Manager, find your printer, right-click and uninstall the driver.
