HP8610

The printhead on my HP8610 failed and after several days of troubleshooting, I elected to purchase a new printhead. It was easy to install, but it won't print. It says it is "initializing." It's been doing that for over 30 minutes with no apparent progress. What is "initializing" and how long does it last?

The printer after the new printhead is installed goes automatically to the printhead initialization and calibration. For a few minutes, you can hear ink pumping and some strange noise that is normal.

Restart your printer there is nothing else you can do.

Did you buy a new printhead with 4 inks included?

Yes, I bought a new HP printhead with the set-up inks. It sat there and did nothing for an hour. I found a HP websited that said I should unplug it and replug it. When I did that, it made the crunching, snapping noises. I still had to run the troubleshooter to get it to print, but now it is printing fine.
