HP8715 all in one
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

added printer but saw the message "Driver is unavailable"

Attempted to install the driver but got an error "...The driver cannot be installed because it is either not digitally signed or not signed in the appropriate manner. Contact your hardware vendor"

I have tried to resolve this issue using the steps to uninstall, remove the device, remove drivers and reinstall drivers with no success

@ssquall, Welcome to HP Support Community!

To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Have you attempted to change the user access control (UAC) settings on the user account, disable it and check if this works?
    • If not, please do and let me know how it works.

While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:

I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Use this link to download and install the new driver. Configure the printer and try printing.

Also, I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:

•    Go to Control Panel - Devices and printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.

•    When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.

•    Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.

i have not attempted to change the UAC settings. seems to me that it would be a security risk since we are speaking of authorization with certificates. I did attempt to delete the driver at the root level and follow the steps that you mentioned (I did this before opening the thread), but that did not work

@ssquall

There would not be any security risk as such as the drivers are downloaded from the HP website, but if you are skeptical about proceeding, I'd suggest you reach out to the HP Support in your region for remote assistance.

Hope this helps!
