HP9018 Setup cartridges not working

Hi,

I am 30 minutes into trying to set up this new printer and am already at the point of wanting to hurl it out the window.

Can someone please help?

The ink cartridges that come with the printer are NOT WORKING. "Missing or damaged" is the error message I see on the display.

I have a backup set that I bought at the same time, but the printer says to use the setup cartridges that came with the printer.

I am 100% DOA and this sucks because school is starting this week and I need this printer NOW.
