Hi @Greenvalley770

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Printer!

Looks like your HP Officejet 4650 is putting on a mysterious show, lights on but no icons. It's like a party with no music! 🎉 Let’s get this party started and get things working as they should.

Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer while it is turned on.
  2. Unplug the cord from the wall outlet as well.
  3. Wait 60 seconds to allow the printer’s internal components to reset.
  4. Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid power strips or surge protectors).
  5. Reconnect the power cable to the printer and turn it on.

Check for a Stuck Button

  • Gently press all the buttons on the printer to check if any are stuck.
  • If a button is jammed, it may cause the screen to freeze.

Try a Forced Firmware Reset

  1. Turn off the printer (if possible).
  2. Press and hold the "Back" button (◀) and the "OK" button simultaneously.
  3. While holding the buttons, turn on the printer.
  4. Release the buttons once you see any change on the display.
  5. If the printer restarts normally, check for firmware updates via HP Smart or the HP support website.

Boot in Recovery Mode

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Press and hold the "Power" button and the "Cancel" button for 10 seconds.
  3. Release both buttons and see if the printer boots normally.

Check for a Display Issue

  • Shine a flashlight on the screen at different angles.
  • If you can faintly see icons, the backlight may be failing.
  • This would require repair or replacement.

If that doesn’t get your printer back on track, let’s dive deeper into some other options. 💡 Keep me posted, and we’ll figure it out together, your printer's comeback story starts now! 😎
