@Fouss2, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding a Printer with a Non-responsive Touch Screen!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your printer's touch screen has turned off and the printer is no longer responsive, follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

Check Power Connections:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly plugged into a power source.
  • Verify that the power cord is securely connected to both the printer and the electrical outlet.
  • Try connecting the printer to a different outlet to rule out any issues with the current power source.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer using the power button.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the electrical outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer and the electrical outlet.
  • Turn on the printer.

Inspect for Error Messages:

  • When the printer turns back on, check the display for any error messages or codes.
  • If an error code is displayed, refer to the printer’s user manual or the HP support website for specific troubleshooting steps related to that error code.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the back of the printer and turn it on.

Update Firmware:

  • Ensure that the printer’s firmware is up to date. Visit the HP support website to download and install any available firmware updates.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hello, and thank you for your response.

Before asking the question, I had already done some research to resolve the problem and everything you mentioned I had already done.

My printer screen is always off and my HP smart software no longer detects the printer.

@Fouss2, Thanks for the update, and I really appreciate you trying all those steps on your own!

Since the screen is still unresponsive and HP Smart isn’t detecting the printer, this could point to a hardware issue, possibly with the printer’s power supply or internal components.

Here’s what I suggest next:

1. Try a Different Power Cable (if available):
If you have access to another compatible HP power cable, give that a shot—it might help rule out a faulty cable.

2. Disconnect All Cables & Wait:
Unplug everything (power and USB/Ethernet), wait a full 2-3 minutes, then plug only the power cable back in and see if the screen lights up.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
