HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 All-in-One Printer

I am getting this error:  Only one set of instant ink ready cartridges can be used in a printer.  Remove and replace with other cartridges.  I only have one set of cartridges in the printer.  I replace all of them with new ones and still getting the message.  And cant print.

Hi @Barbmac,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering a frustrating issue with your HP Officejet Pro 6968 printer. The error message you're receiving typically indicates a problem with the cartridges being recognized by the printer. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve minor issues. Turn off the printer, wait for a few minutes, and then turn it back on.
  • Check Cartridge Installation: Make sure that all cartridges are properly installed in their respective slots. Remove each cartridge and reseat them securely.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: Ink residue or debris on the cartridge contacts can prevent proper communication with the printer. Turn off the printer and gently clean the contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth dampened with water.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can usually update the firmware through the printer's settings menu or by visiting the HP website and downloading the latest firmware for your printer model.
  • Reset the Printer: Performing a factory reset on the printer may help clear any software glitches causing the error. Refer to your printer's manual or HP's support website for instructions on how to reset your specific model.

By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the error and get your printer working again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
