Hi folks,

the printing of my printer was really bad, so I decided to clean the printhead, reset the printer and start over with new cartridges as the last cartridges were already about 1.5 years old.

Anyway, after cleaning the printhead, I inserted the new cartridges and reset the printer. Unfortunately, the printer now greets me with a message that I shoul insert the cartridges that came with the printer. Since the printer is already several years old, I, obviously, do not have the setup cartridges anymore.

When turning on the printer, it says directly „install setup cartridges“ and then shows me an animation on how to it. There’s nothing else that I can do. The buttons. On the control panel do not seem to cause anything. The only button I can tap on is labelled „replay animation“

I‘ve tried pressing the return button on the lower left corner repeatedly to get into the support menu and reset the printer again, but that does not work.

What can I do to get the printer working again without setup cardridges?

Thanks a lot in advance for your support!

@Dreier-112, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I see that you have already tried reaching the support menu to perform a reset but failed. The only solution to this issue is to perform an OOB reset.

If you are not able to access the support menu, please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

Click the “Kudos, Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

Have a great day!
