Hi @100old

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

The error message "Printhead missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed" on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 typically indicates an issue with the printhead or its connection.

Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

1. Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • This can help clear temporary errors.

2. Reseat the Printhead:

  • Open the printer cover and carefully remove the printhead.
  • Inspect the printhead and its contacts for any dirt or damage.
  • Clean the contacts gently with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Reinsert the printhead securely and close the printer cover.

3. Update Printer Firmware:

  • Visit the HP Support page for your printer model and download the latest firmware updates.
  • Firmware updates can resolve compatibility issues and improve printer performance.

4. Clean the Printhead:

  • If reseating doesn't work, you can clean the printhead:
    • Use a cleaning solution designed for printheads and follow the instructions to soak and clean it.
    • Allow the printhead to dry completely before reinstalling it.

If this solution hits the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
