How to remove NEW ink tanks from printer when the carriage does not move to center when top is open?

 

With the printer OFF the carriage can not be moved out from the right where it is enclosed, but that might be NORMAL.

 

Printer will not work when on - says Carriage Jam.

 

With the cost of ink being what it is I would like to remove - perhaps there is a repair manual that would show how to dis-assemble the unit?
