@Carterncompanh, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Printhead Issues on HP 7600 Series Printers!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If the printhead won't move after installing ink on your HP 7620 or 7602r printer, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem.
Verify Printhead Installation:
- Check that power is on.
- Close the output tray extender and rotate the output tray clockwise to stow it in the printer.
- Make sure the ink valve is at the unlocked position.
- Remove and reinsert the printhead:
- Open the front door of the printer.
- Open the printhead access door and wait for the print carriage to move to the center of the printer.
- Push down to open the blue printhead latch.
- Remove the printhead from the carriage.
- Check if there is a plug on top of the printhead or plastic tape on the printhead contacts. If there is, remove the plug and the plastic tape.
- Slide the printhead into the slot until it clicks into place.
- Firmly close the blue printhead latch.
- Close the printhead access door.
- Close the front door of the printer.
- Pull out the output tray and the tray extender.
Clean Printhead Contacts:
- Perform a cleaning procedure to ensure the contacts are clean:
- Check for power.
- Close the output tray extender and rotate the output tray clockwise.
- Make sure the ink valve is at the unlocked position.
- Open the front door of the printer.
- Open the printhead access door and wait for the print carriage to move to the center.
- Push down the blue printhead latch.
- Remove the indicated printhead.
- Clean the printhead contacts and printer contacts using a dry swab or lint-free cloth.
- Reinstall the printhead.
- Close the latch, the printhead access door, and the front door.
- Check if the error message has gone away. If not, turn the printer off and then on.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
