Office jet 9015 received error code ( hp printer unexpected configuration 0x8000ffff).  I've attempted all know solutions to resolve this including uninstalling printer and drivers, and reinstalling.  Also reversed the last Windows 11 update, still doesn't work.  Many many reboots.  What am I missing?

Thank you!

Hi @Tracy_D0114

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

The error code 0x8000ffff on your HP OfficeJet 9015 typically indicates a catastrophic configuration failure, often tied to driver conflicts or corrupted spooler settings. Since you've already reinstalled drivers and reversed updates, the next steps involve deeper system cleanup and reinitialization.

Let’s walk through a focused recovery path to help your printer start responding again.

1. Fully remove printer drivers and spooler remnants

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Remove the HP OfficeJet 9015.
  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Locate Print Spooler, right-click and choose Stop.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files inside.
  • Restart the Print Spooler service.

2. Use HP’s Diagnose & Fix tool

  • Download and run the Diagnose & Fix tool.
  • This tool checks for driver mismatches, spooler errors, and connectivity issues.
  • Follow the prompts and restart your system after completion.

3. Install the latest full software package

  • Visit the HP OfficeJet 9015 driver page.
  • Download the Full Feature Software and Drivers for Windows 11.
  • Run the installer and follow the setup instructions carefully.

4. Check Windows Print Service integrity

  • Open Settings > Apps > Optional Features.
  • Scroll to Print Management Console and ensure it’s installed.
  • If missing, click Add a feature, search for it, and install.

5. Create a new local printer port

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add Printer.
  • Choose Add a local printer > Create a new port > Standard TCP/IP Port.
  • Enter your printer’s IP address (found on its control panel under network settings).
  • Complete the setup and assign the correct driver manually.

You’ve already done a lot of the heavy lifting—let’s get this final stretch resolved so your OfficeJet 9015 can get back to work. Let me know how it responds after these steps.
