When I send a print job from my iMac to my HP Officejet Pro 8710, I hear a click click from the printer, and the print queue on my iMac after a few seconds shows "Printing - Printing page 1, 100% complete".   However, the printer does not print the job.  When I click on printer settings, and select Jobs, it shows Current, and underneath that it shows Print, and underneath that it shows Printing.  When I clear the queue on my iMac, the printer shows "printing cancelled".  I have reset the printer to the original default settings and reconnected it to my wifi.  I also deleted the printer from my iMac and then installed the printer software, and then re-added the printer.  I have checked to make sure there are no jams of paper.  I have also cleaned the print head, which prints out a perfectly printed test page.

@Camarillodoug, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your MAC.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on MAC

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

Perform a ping test to check the connectivity

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the Wireless icon on the printer
  2. On the MAC Go to Spotlight > search for Network utility > select Ping tab > enter the IP address of the printer in the box
  3. Check the second box that says Send only > 10 pings
  4. Click on ping > Check the results at the end if any packets are lost
  5. Note: There should be 0% packet loss, share the results in your next post.

Let me know how this goes.

The printer just now started showing the cyan cartridge is depleted and must be replaced to resume printing, so I am unable to copy a document.

My iMac has the latest software installed.  And the printer shows that "The most current updates have already been installed".

I did the ping test and it showed  "10 packets transmitted, 10 packets received, 0.0% packet loss".

When I was trouble shooting this problem, I cleaned the print head and it printed a perfect test sheet.  I was also able to print the Wireless Quick Start Guide.  However it would not print a Wireless Test Report or a Network Configuration Report.  Instead the printer under jobs showed the job was printing but it never printed, the same as when I sent a job to print from my iMac.

This morning before your help appeared,  I  convinced myself that there was a hardware problem, and I ordered a new HP printer through Best Buy.  I can cancel the order, and get an ink cartridge,  if it's possible that the problem was the now depleted ink cartridge.

@Camarillodoug

I understand. We can conclude the issue only with a replacement Cyan ink cartridge.

As the ping test shows, there is no issues with the connectivity between the printer and the MAC.

Keep me posted.
