I just bought a Hp Smart Tank 5101, it is printing normally but having trouble connecting to my laptop, in addition the main issue is a faint beeping sound that goes away when I open the front port when the ink is located.

@Shawn999, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

You're experiencing two issues with your HP Smart Tank 5101:

  1. Faint beeping sound
  2. Trouble connecting to your laptop

Let’s address both step-by-step:

Issue 1: Faint Beeping Sound

This faint beeping is often linked to one of the following:

  • Ink tank door not fully closed
  • Printhead carriage not latched properly
  • Alignment or priming not completed
  • Internal alert or error condition

Try these steps:

Open the front ink access door and check:

  • Are the ink bottles properly seated?
  • Is the printhead carriage latch fully closed?
  • Are there any blinking lights or error codes on the control panel?

Close the door firmly and ensure it clicks into place.

Restart the printer:

  • Turn off the printer using the power button.
  • Unplug it for 30 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and power it on.

Check for error codes:

If the beeping persists even after these steps, it may be a priming or alignment issue. You can follow this guide to check and reseat the printheads:

Issue 2: Trouble Connecting to Laptop

If your printer is not connecting wirelessly, here’s what to do:

Step-by-step wireless setup:

Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode:

Install the HP Smart App:

  • Download from 123.hp.com
  • Open the app and follow the prompts to add your printer.

Ensure Bluetooth and Location Services are enabled on your laptop or mobile device during setup.

Run Diagnose & Fix from the HP Smart App:

Additional Tips

  • Make sure your laptop is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
  • Avoid connecting to DIRECT-xx-HP unless using Wi-Fi Direct.
  • Keep the printer within 8 meters (26 feet) of your router.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
