I've been having this E3 blinking error on my Hp smart tank 5102. I did the trouble shooting to check for paper jams and if the cartridge has obstruction but it seems okay but it still wont print. Can somebody please help?

Hi @gracegamale,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord from the outlet.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

Check for Jammed Paper:

  • Open the front and back access doors and carefully check for any jammed paper inside the printer.
  • Remove any paper you find, being careful not to tear it.

Ensure the Carriage Moves Freely:

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Gently move the carriage to the left and then to the right. It should move smoothly without any obstructions.

Inspect the Cartridges:

  • Remove any ink cartridges and check for protective tapes or obstructions. Ensure the cartridges are properly seated.
  • Reinstall the cartridges and close the access door.

Clean the Carriage Path:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Using a flashlight, inspect the carriage path and remove any debris or foreign objects that might be blocking it.

Update Firmware and Software:

  • Ensure that your printer firmware and drivers are up to date. You can download the latest updates from the HP Support Website.

Restart Print Job:

  • After performing the above checks and updates, restart your printing job to see if the E3 error persists.

I hope this helps.
