Welcome to the HP Support Forums. It is odd that your printer is requesting the use of a password.
So that I can better assist you, can I know what you are attempting to do and when are you prompted for the password.
Also, you have iOS as your operating system. What version?

( the signal was very strong when the printer was upstairs - all other devices ( iPad , iPhones etc ) were working fine when they were upstairs

HP Envy 5640 series printer this morning asking for password on iPad. Have retrieved password through printer - password was rejected. Tried to print through Macbook pro - just one blank page is showing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled printer. No difference. I have had this printer for eleven months and it's produced hundreds of pages without ever asking for a password. Any suggestions please - or is it easier to return it to the store and replace it?
