Hi @Bryony3,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The flashing blue Wi-Fi light on your HP printer typically indicates that it is trying to connect to a network but is not yet connected. This can happen when trying to connect the printer to an iPhone or any other device. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue.

Check Wi-Fi Network

Ensure that your iPhone and the HP printer are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Restart Devices

  • Restart your iPhone.
  • Turn off the HP printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.

Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi

Reconfigure Wi-Fi Connection:

  • On the printer's control panel, go to the Wireless or Network settings.
  • Select Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.

Using HP Smart App:

  • Download and install the HP Smart app from the App Store on your iPhone.
  • Open the app and add your printer. Follow the prompts to connect your printer to the Wi-Fi network.

Check for Firmware Updates

Ensure your printer has the latest firmware. You can usually update the firmware via the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel.

Reset Network Settings on Printer

  1. On the printer, go to Settings.
  2. Navigate to Network Settings.
  3. Select Restore Network Settings or Restore Network Defaults.

AirPrint Settings

  • Make sure that AirPrint is enabled on the printer if you're using it with an iPhone.

Check Router Settings

  • Ensure that your router is not blocking the printer. Sometimes, routers have settings like MAC address filtering or wireless isolation that can prevent devices from communicating.

Manual IP Address

  • Assign a static IP address to the printer through the printer’s network settings or via the router’s admin panel.

Firewall/Security Software

  • Ensure that firewall or security software on your router or devices is not blocking the connection.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it might be helpful to reset the printer to its factory defaults and then reconfigure it from scratch.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
