Hp officejet pro 8035e will not print anything.

Hello.. can someone help me. I try to print from laptop and my andriod phone. The printer says I need to finish set up. I finished the setup on my laptop and phone. It says congratulations your printer is ready. But when I try to print any test pages or print any documents. The printer reacts like it wants to print. But then it goes to a cancel on the printer screen. Sometimes it will say I need to finish set up. What ever happened to plug and play? Why do they make these things so complicated? Is there something I'm missing? I followed the instructions. Can anyone help. Thanks.
