Hp photos wireless issues

I was given my mother's printer. It's an HP photosmart plus and it has had nothing but technical difficulties since she bought it years ago. Not enough paper code even though there's paper in it. Figuring out you need every ink cartridges for just black to work. But what's the most frustrating is the wireless error code. This thing has gone offline more than online and my wifi box is right next to it. It was working for a few days then I made the mistake of unplugging the printer. When I turned it back on it was back to square one. Not picking up my router even though the printer once again is right next to it. You would THINK being HP where their specialty is COMPUTERS.... That they wouldn't have so many technical issues. Has anyone else had this issue and if so is there even a way to troubleshoot it. It's not even showing my network name anymore. It's like it has a mind of its own and it's goal is to poss everyone off. Why can't printers just print easily? Anyone have suggestions on a BETTER, EASIER, RELIABLE PRINTER? PLEASE LMK. THANKS
