@DavidL13, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

When your HP DeskJet 2710 printer experiences flashing lights and doesn't print after being inactive for a while, it typically indicates a hardware error. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

Restart the Printer:

  • Unplug the power cord from the printer.
  • Wait about 10 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.

Check Connections:

  • Make sure the printer is securely connected to a working outlet.
  • Ensure that all cables are connected properly.

Inspect the Ink Cartridges:

  • Verify that the new ink cartridges are installed correctly.
  • Ensure that the print cartridge door is fully closed.

Perform a Printer Reset:

  • Sometimes performing a full reset can help resolve errors:
    • Unplug the printer without turning it off.
    • Wait about 60 seconds.
    • Plug the printer back into the power source and turn it on.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Make sure there are no paper jams or obstructions in any of the trays or paper pathways.

Inspect the Network Connection:

  • If using wireless printing, verify that your printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.

Software Update:

  • Ensure that you have the latest software and drivers installed. You can download them from the HP website.
