Hi @MHarris-Ohio

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A "Printer Failure" error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus can be frustrating. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn Off the Printer: Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait: Leave it unplugged for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug It Back In: Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

2. Check Ink Cartridges

  • Reinstall Cartridges: Remove the new ink cartridges and reinstall them, ensuring they are securely seated.
  • Check for Protective Tape: Make sure any protective tape on the cartridges has been removed.

3. Reset the Printer

  • Factory Reset: If you can access the menu, try performing a factory reset. This option is often found in the printer's settings under Tools or Maintenance.

4. Clean the Ink Cartridge Contacts

  • Check Contacts: Turn off the printer and remove the cartridges. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the copper contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer.

5. Inspect for Jammed Paper

  • Check for any paper jams or obstructions in the printer that could be causing the error.

6. Firmware Update

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. You can do this using the HP Support website or the HP Smart app.

7. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • If you have access to another computer, download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool can help diagnose and fix printing issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
