I have a HP 8600 office jet pro I am trying to get it to print in greyscale as all I am printing is shipping labels. I do not want to replace any of the color cartridges... when I go into the printer settings it does not give me access to color preferences, however when I print I ca coose black and white but because my cyan is out the printer will not print.

how do I access the printer settings to change them to greyscale?

Hi @Anne1313

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Certain printers can print with an empty cartridge, while others require that all cartridges have some ink.

For your printer model, ink is required in all cartridges to print and to perform periodic servicing to prevent clogs and other print quality issues.

NOTE: There is no way to bypass this feature.

If one of the following messages displays, replace the indicated cartridge to continue printing.

> The cartridges above must be replaced to resume printing

> Cartridges Depleted

> Depleted cartridges must be replaced to resume printing

Take care, and have an amazing day!
