HI @TamRis,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When you buy a used HP printer, it often requires the original setup ink cartridges to complete the initial setup. Here’s how to resolve the issue:

Steps to Resolve the Error

Use Setup Cartridges:

  • Original Setup Cartridges: HP printers typically need the original setup cartridges that come with the printer. These cartridges are different from regular cartridges as they have more ink and are meant for the initial setup.
  • You may need to purchase these setup cartridges to complete the setup process.

Check Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Ensure that the new cartridges you installed are compatible with your printer model. Sometimes, third-party cartridges may not work properly during setup.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This may help reset any error messages.

Install New Cartridges:

  • If you have access to setup cartridges, install them properly. Ensure they are securely seated in their slots.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
