I can't get my printer to print.  It has a question mark highlighted on the print box.  I have a HP Envy Inspire 7200e All-In-One Printer.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you. 

If your HP Envy Inspire 7200e printer is showing a question mark (?) in the print box, that usually indicates your Mac or Windows system can't properly communicate with the printer, or it can't identify it correctly.

Let’s go through a few steps to fix it:

Check the Connection

  • If it's a wireless printer, make sure it's connected to your Wi-Fi (not in setup mode or disconnected).
  • On the printer screen, go to:
    Settings > Network Setup > Wi-Fi Settings
    Then check the connection status.
  • If it’s USB, unplug and plug it back into another USB port.

Restart Devices

  • Power off the printer and unplug it for 30 seconds.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Plug in and power on the printer again.

Remove & Re-add the Printer

On Windows:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Click on your printer and select Remove device.
  • Click Add a printer or scanner and let Windows detect it again.

On Mac:

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select the printer and click the minus (-) button to remove it.
  • Click the plus (+) button to re-add it — make sure to select the one that does not have "AirPrint" in parentheses (choose the HP driver version if available).

Update or Reinstall Printer Driver

  • Go to HP support page: HP Envy Inspire 7200e drivers
  • Download and install the latest full feature software for your OS.
  • During installation, it may ask to re-establish connection with your printer.

Use HP Smart App

Sometimes the HP Smart app helps detect and fix issues quickly:

  • Download it from HP Smart - Windows/macOS
  • Open the app and log in with your HP account.
  • Add your printer again — if it’s not showing up, it might not be connected properly.
