Hi @Kaz199, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I’m good, thanks for asking. 😊 Let's get your HP MFP 179fnw connected to Wi-Fi with your password that contains "!".
Using the Printer's Control Panel
- Go to the Wi-Fi setup menu on your printer.
- Select "Manual Wi-Fi Setup" to enter your network name and password.
- When entering the password:
- Press * multiple times to cycle through special characters.
- If ! does not appear, press # or 0 repeatedly (some models use different keys).
- If it still doesn’t work, try holding * for a few seconds to access more symbols.
- Once the correct password is entered, press OK and complete the setup.
Use HP Smart App (Easier Method)
- Download HP Smart (Windows | Android | iOS).
- Select "Set Up a New Printer" and follow the steps.
- When entering the Wi-Fi password, your phone/PC keyboard allows special characters like !.
- Complete the setup and test printing.
you can also use the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS)
If entering ! on the printer is difficult, you can set up Wi-Fi using a computer:
- Connect your printer to a PC via USB.
- Open a web browser and enter the printer’s IP address (find it in the printer’s network settings).
- Navigate to Network Settings > Wireless Setup.
- Enter your Wi-Fi name and password, including !.
- Save the settings and disconnect the USB.
If the Printer Still Won’t Accept !
- Check for firmware updates: Some older firmware versions may have issues with special characters.
- Temporarily change your Wi-Fi password (remove !), connect the printer, then change the password back.
Let me know if this helps or if you need more guidance! 😊
Hope I was able to make things easier for you! 😊
If this solved your issue, go ahead and mark it as "Accepted Solution" and hit "Yes"—your feedback keeps us going and helps others too! 👍✨
Take care and have an amazing day! 🚀
Best regards,
