I cannot print using my HP 5200 All in One.  I input a new black ink cartridge. The error message advises that the pink ink cartridge is empty. I only print in black so I don't care.  I removed the pink ink cartridge, but the print still won't print.

Hi @MorenaGringa,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're experiencing an issue with your HP 5200 All-in-One printer, even after removing the pink ink cartridge. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Ensure that your printer settings are configured to use only black ink. Open the printer properties on your computer and set the default printing option to grayscale or black and white.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Plug it back in and turn it on. This may help reset any error messages.

Check for Firmware/Driver Updates:

  • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware or driver updates. Visit the HP website and download the latest software for your printer model.

Verify Cartridge Installation:

  • Double-check that the black ink cartridge is securely and correctly installed. Sometimes, a cartridge may not be seated properly, leading to printing issues.

Check for Empty Cartridges:

  • Some printers may still require all cartridges to have some ink for printing, even if you're only printing in black. If possible, insert the pink cartridge back in and ensure it has some ink.

Printer Diagnostics:

  • Many printers have built-in diagnostic tools. Check your printer's manual for instructions on how to run diagnostics or print a test page. This can help identify specific issues.

Clean Print Heads:

  • If your printer has an option to clean print heads, use it. This can help clear any dried ink or debris that might be affecting the printing quality.

Remember that removing or not using a specific color cartridge might not work for all printers. Some printers require all cartridges to be present and have some ink for proper operation.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
