Hi @wanttokayak,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "50.2 fuser error" on your HP Color LaserJet MFP M277dw indicates a problem with the fuser unit, which is responsible for fixing the toner to the paper. This error often means the fuser is overheating or not heating up properly. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 10-15 minutes to allow the fuser to cool down completely.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Open the printer and inspect the fuser area for any paper jams or debris that might be obstructing the fuser's operation. Remove any obstructions you find.

Ensure Proper Ventilation:

  • Make sure the printer is in a well-ventilated area and not overheating due to external factors like being placed near a heat source or in direct sunlight.

Check the Fuser's Connection:

  • Open the printer and ensure that the fuser unit is properly seated and connected. Sometimes the fuser can become loose or improperly connected.

Update Firmware:

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve internal issues.

Reset the Printer:

  • Perform a factory reset on the printer. This can sometimes clear errors that are caused by software glitches. Refer to the user manual for instructions on how to reset your printer to factory settings.

Replace the Fuser Unit:

  • If the above steps do not resolve the issue, the fuser unit might be faulty and need replacement. The fuser unit is a consumable part and might need to be replaced after a certain period of use.

Preventive Measures

To avoid future fuser errors, consider the following preventive measures:

  • Regular Maintenance: Regularly clean the printer and perform maintenance as recommended in the user manual.
  • Environment: Ensure the printer is used in a suitable environment with proper ventilation and temperature control.
  • Use Genuine Parts: Use genuine HP replacement parts and consumables to ensure compatibility and reliability.

By following these steps, you should be able to address the "50.2 fuser error" and get your printer back in working condition.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
