This is the error I get from my PC but I have difficulty printing from all devices intermittently.  It's getting worse.  I habitually now turn the printer off and on to print, and then the device, and then try other devices, but I think something is just wrong with the printer.  Any ideas?  I've walked through the Virtual Assistant help but have run thin...

Hi @Michele_H,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already done some troubleshooting, but let's try a few more steps to see if we can resolve the issue.

  • Check Connection: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your network. If it's a wireless connection, make sure the Wi-Fi signal is strong and stable. If it's a wired connection, ensure the Ethernet cable is securely plugged in.
  • Restart Devices: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Turn off both your printer and your computer, wait a few minutes, and then turn them back on.
  • Update Firmware/Drivers: Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. Similarly, ensure that you have the latest drivers installed on your computer. You can usually find these updates on the HP website.
  • Check Printer Settings: Verify that the printer is set to online mode. You can usually do this through the printer's menu or settings on the printer's display panel.
  • Reset Printer: Try resetting the printer to its factory defaults. This can often resolve various issues. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.
  • Check for Interference: Nearby electronic devices or appliances could interfere with the printer's signal. Move the printer to a different location if possible, away from potential sources of interference.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
