HP Deskjet F2280
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Instead of the booklet print (on A4 paper) coming out as two A5 portrait pages next to each other on a landscape A4 page, when booklet is selected I just get one page per A4 side portrait full size. Booklet printing was ok with my previous laptop which also ran windows 10. I do not know if I have windows 10 32 or 64 bit (if that makes a difference) as I don't know how to find that out.

I am desperate to print some leaflets and need booklet printing to work like it used to. Thanks in anticipation of help.

@RGAlbery, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Follow the steps below-

Set up the print job

Set up the duplex print job in the document print settings.

  1. To avoid page ordering issues, load enough blank paper into the input tray to fully complete your print job.

  2. Open the document you want to print, click File, click Print, and then click Show Details, if necessary.

  3. Look for a Two-Sided option in the print dialog.

Two-Sided option in the print settings

    • If Two-Sided displays, your printer supports automatic duplexing. Select the checkbox, click Layout in the unnamed print options menu, select a binding option from the Two-Sided menu, and then click Print.

    • If Two-Sided is not available, continue with these steps to manually print on both sides of the page.

  4. Identify your printer paper tray type, and then continue to the next step.

  1. Select Paper Handling from the unnamed menu at the center of the window, and then select Odd Only from the Pages to Print menu.

Select Odd Only pages to print

  2. Depending on your printer type, select one of the following settings from the Page Order menu:

    • Rear loading paper tray: Select Automatic

    • Front loading paper tray: Select Reverse

  3. Click Print.

  4. When all the pages are printed, remove any remaining unprinted paper from the input tray, and then continue to the next step.

Print the other side of your pages

To print the other side, reload the pages into the input tray. Read the steps for your printer type for how pages are loaded and what print settings to select.

Rear loading paper input tray

To print the other side, choose if you want to read the document like a booklet or like a tablet, reload the pages in the input tray, and then set up the print job in the software.

  1. Decide if you want to read the two-sided document like a booklet (flip pages along the long edge) or like a tablet (flip pages on the short top edge)

  2. Remove the first side pages from the output tray, tap the stack on a flat surface to align the pages, and then load them into the input tray.

    • For booklet reading, flip the pages over so that the printed side is facing down and load them top edge down.

    • For tablet reading, flip the pages over so that the printed side is facing down and load them top edge up.

  3. Return to the Print menu in the document, and then select Even Only from the Pages to Print menu.

  2. Remove the first side pages from the output tray, and then load them into the input tray.

    • For booklet reading, load the pages with the printed side facing up and the top edge going into the printer.

    • For tablet reading, load the pages with the printed side facing up and the bottom edge going into the printer.
