I"m trying to print on glossy 4x6 paper. In the printer I owned before the one I now have, I placed the 4x6 paper on the left side  of the tray. Does that apply to the DeskJet 2742

Hi @Traveller88

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

For the HP DeskJet 2742, you can place 4x6 glossy paper in the input tray as follows:

Adjust the Tray:

  • Open the input tray and extend it out fully. Make sure the paper width guide is adjusted to fit the size of the paper.

Load the Paper:

  • Place the 4x6 glossy paper in the tray with the glossy side facing down. The paper should be loaded into the center of the tray, not just on the left side.

Adjust the Guides:

  • Move the paper width guide snugly against the edge of the paper to ensure proper feeding.

Select the Correct Paper Size:

  • When printing, make sure to select the 4x6 paper size in your print settings to ensure it prints correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
