HP 8610
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Laptop is now showing priner offline.

I removed the printer and tried to install the driver again. When installed the 0j8610_198.exe, it does detect the printer on my wireless network. But, it is keep showing installing drivers and never stops/completes. Finally it fails with the following error "The printer was unable to be installed over the network"

This is issue started happening only recently. Not sure what is causing this issue.

Hi @ShyamT,

Thanks for stopping by the HP community. A very good day to you.  I reviewed the post regarding issues with the printer going offline. Superb description and stupendous diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did this happen after an initial Windows 10 update

For now, try these steps

  • Please perform all the prescribed steps from this link: http://hp.care/2wu1UyY  to resolve printer offline issues.

This should do the trick for you.

Otherwise, uninstall and reinstall the printer software.

  • Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
  • Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)
  • Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.
  • Click on print server properties.
  • You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any.
  • Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
  • Restart the PC.
  • Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
  • Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
  • It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
  • If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
  • Ignore the Regedit option if it cannot be done.
  • Restart the PC again.

Then download the latest full feature driver from http://hp.care/2sRBeoT  and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.

  • Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.
  • Now check for issue resolution.
  • Then assign a manual IP address by following step 6 from the printer offline document. Once the installation is complete.
  • Also, update the printer’s firmware by following step 5 after completing the installation.
  • This should fix the issue.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂

Cheers!

Changing the subject a bit, I cannot print or scan with my HP Officejet j4680c All-in-one printer using Windows 10 with my Lenovo Yoga. I have downloaded and installed the full software from the HP site 8 times. Each time I receive the message that the printer has been correctly installed, but there is an error box which says that the HP imaging device cannot be found. I can print an internal test page but nothing else will print. The computer sees the printer on its wireless connection. I have completely removed the device and all software after each installation, but I still get the same results. Are there issues with this printer and Lenovo or Windows 10? This printer worked fine on my old laptop, a Lenovo ThinkPad. Please help!

Working with Lenovo laptops, hp printers and windows 10 has been an experience. After multiple uninstalls, installs, up address settings, etc., the solution to getting the HP printer finally connected wirelessly was to reset/reinstall windows 10 and it immediately fixed the problem.  I was able to connect easily from an Hp Spectre with windows 10 to the same Hp printer (Officejet 4635 all-in-one),  that pointed me to the computer and windows 10.
