Hi @SLR1010,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you've installed new cartridges in your HP Deskjet 2700e All-in-One printer and the ink levels are showing empty, preventing you from printing, here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Open the printer’s cartridge access door.
  • Remove and reinsert the cartridges to ensure they are securely in place.

2. Remove Protective Tape

  • Verify that you have removed any protective tapes or seals from the new cartridges. Sometimes, these tapes can obstruct the ink flow and prevent proper detection by the printer.

3. Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer, wait for 1-2 minutes, and then turn it back on. This can sometimes reset the ink level detection system.

4. Update Printer Firmware:

  • Visit the HP Support website.Enter your printer model (HP Deskjet 2700e).
  • Download and install any available firmware updates.

5. Check Ink Level Display:

  • Check the ink level display to see if it now correctly shows the ink levels for the new cartridges. If the levels are still incorrect, proceed with the next steps.

6. Clean Cartridge Contacts:

  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.Gently wipe the contacts to remove any dust or residue that may be interfering with the connection.

7. Reset the Printer:

  • Turn on the printer.Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.Wait at least 60 seconds.Plug the power cord back into the printer.Turn on the printer.

8. Check for Cartridge Issues

  • Verify if there are any issues specific to the cartridges themselves:
    • Ensure you are using genuine HP cartridges that are compatible with your printer model.Check for any visible damage or leaks in the cartridges.

9. Perform Print Quality Diagnostic

  • Print a diagnostic page or a print quality report from the printer’s control panel:
    • This can sometimes help identify if there are any issues with the cartridges or printhead.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
