My printer won’t print.  I changed ink today and the display looks good and my phone says the job is printing but nothing happens.

I understand how frustrating it is when everything looks fine, fresh ink, display normal, app says “printing” but the printer stays silent. Let’s troubleshoot this step by step with recommended actions:

Steps to Fix “Printer Won’t Print” Issue

1. Check Printer Status

  • Make sure the printer is powered on, connected to Wi-Fi, and shows Ready on the display.
  • If the printer is in Sleep Mode, tap the control panel to wake it.


2. Restart Devices

  • Power cycle the printer: Turn it off, unplug it for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and restart.
  • Restart your phone or computer that sent the print job.


3. Clear Print Queue

  • On Windows: 
    • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
    • Find Print Spooler, right-click → Restart.
  • On HP Smart app: 
    • Cancel any stuck jobs and resend the document.


4. Check Connection

  • Ensure the printer and device are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • If using a USB, disconnect and reconnect the cable securely.


5. Run HP App


6. Update Printer Firmware
