I contacted the HP folks who sent me a replacement cartridge but I still get the same error message.  I have tried everything that was recemonded but error remains.  Is there some way to correct the error problem or does this mean that I must replace the printer?  Everything else works on the printer except for the black ink cartridge.

Try these steps:

  • Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that you are using genuine HP ink cartridges that are compatible with your printer model. Using third-party or refilled cartridges can sometimes lead to issues.
  • Inspect Cartridges: Take out the ink cartridges and inspect them for any visible defects or damage. Make sure the protective tape or seal on the cartridges has been removed.
  • Clean the Contacts: Clean the electrical contacts on both the ink cartridges and the printer. Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water, and gently wipe the contacts.
