Hi @Mikael6

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing this—it’s understandably frustrating when your scanner refuses to cooperate, especially after trying all the right steps.

If your printer keeps showing “Scanner busy,” even after rebooting and updating, the issue may stem from a stalled scan job, software conflict, or internal memory lock. Let’s walk through a full recovery to get your scanner responsive again.

Step-by-step recovery for “Scanner Busy” error

Power cycle with memory flush

  • Turn off the printer using the power button.
  • Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for 2 minutes to allow internal memory to clear.
  • Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
  • Power it on and wait until it’s fully idle before scanning.

Clear stuck scan jobs

  • Open the HP App on your Windows 11 PC.
  • Go to Scan > History and delete any pending or failed scan jobs.
  • Restart the app and try scanning again.

Disconnect and reconnect USB or network

  • If connected via USB, unplug and replug the cable.
  • If using Wi-Fi, restart your router and reconnect the printer to the network.
  • This helps clear any communication lock between the printer and your system.

Use HP App’s built-in scan tool

  • Open the HP App > Select your printer > Scan > Advanced Settings.
  • Choose Flatbed Scan and set resolution to 300 dpi.
  • Try scanning a single-page document to test response.

Update firmware and drivers

  • In the HP App, go to Settings > Advanced Settings > Tools > Printer Updates.
  • Install any available updates and restart the printer.
  • Also check Windows Update for any pending driver updates.

Run HP’s Diagnose & Fix tool

Let me know your exact printer model if you'd like tailored steps or firmware links. If the error persists after these resets, I can guide you through a semi-full reset or help test scanning from another device.
