I got rid of my subscription almost 2 months ago I was not aware that after that I wouldn't be able to print

Welcome to the HP Community --

 

An Instant Ink subscription is always optional.

Instant Ink is not mandatory.

 

That said, 

True - After the subscription is terminated by you or by HP,  all Instant Ink / Subscription cartridges lock and cannot be used outside of the active subscription to the service.

 

Said another way:

After termination of the Instant Ink subscription by the customer OR by HP,

All Instant Ink cartridges, including those cartridges activated by the service AND the  Instant Ink / Subscription cartridges sent to you will lock and can no longer be used in any printer.

 

You must remove all the Instant Ink cartridges from the printer, then purchase and install a new set of HP Ink cartridges.
