Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm encountering image shadow printing problem with my HP Ink Tank 115, only when printing image that is around half-inch tall. No issue printing text only in Word or PDF. No problem printing small images (less than half inch). I have already replaced both printer heads (black & color). In some cases, printer stalls (jerking forward-backward for a period) when printing large image, that I have to cancel the printing in order to move the paper forward. I have reinstalled complete software package a couple of times.

Hi @Caloy6,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing some frustrating printing issues with your HP Ink Tank 115. Shadow printing or ghosting can often be caused by a few different factors, including issues with the printer itself, the print heads, or the print settings.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the problem.

  • Check Print Settings: Make sure that your print settings are optimized for the type of image you're printing. Try adjusting the print quality settings to see if that makes a difference. Sometimes using a higher quality setting can help reduce shadowing.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest drivers and firmware installed for your HP Ink Tank 115. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause printing issues.
  • Check Paper Type and Quality: Ensure you're using the correct type and quality of paper for your printer. Low-quality or incompatible paper can cause smudging or shadowing issues.
  • Clean Print Heads: Even though you've replaced the print heads, it's still worth cleaning them. Use the printer's built-in cleaning utility to clean the print heads. Sometimes dried ink or debris can cause printing issues.
  • Check Ink Levels: Make sure that your ink levels are sufficient. Low ink levels can sometimes cause printing problems.
  • Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions: Ensure that there are no paper jams or obstructions in the printer's paper path. Even a small piece of debris can cause printing issues.
  • Reset Printer: Sometimes resetting the printer to its factory defaults can resolve persistent printing issues. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.

By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to troubleshoot and resolve the shadow printing issue with your HP Ink Tank 115.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
