OfficeJet 6958

I have an OfficeJet printer 6958. I cleared the paper jam but I still get the paper jam error message. I tried to reset the printer. Now I also get an improper shutdown message. Can't seem to be able to clear both messages. Please advise.

@Twinnie25, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are not able to print due to this false error. I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this issue by performing the necessary troubleshooting steps.

Make sure you have tried the steps mentioned in this document - Paper Jam Error

Check if the print carriage is moving freely. Refer to 'Carriage Jam' or 'E3' Error Displays

Now, try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue. If the printer makes a copy, the hardware is fine.

If you are not able to make a copy, I'm afraid this is a hardware issue. Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

I followed the steps you had given me and now the message that I'm getting is "Checking the printer. Please wait...". It's been checking for about 5 minutes now. It shouldn't be taking this long, right?

Yes, it should not take more than 5 minutes. If the issue persists, as mentioned in my previous post, reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.
