HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a

Hello, I've done a lot of manipulation with this error. Change all the cartbridge, reset the memory of the printer and clean the heads of the printing.. ans still having this error. I saw lots of comment in forum and also people selling their printer because of this issue. I really think that this printer could be repairs as all the rest is working fine.. Could you help me resolving this issue.

@Renauddu13, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "Incident on the printer or the inking system" error on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 (N911a) is typically related to the printhead or ink system. Since you've already tried replacing cartridges, resetting the printer memory, and cleaning the printhead, here are some advanced troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:

Hard Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cable from both the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait 5 minutes.
  • Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds (to drain residual power).
  • Plug the power cable directly into the wall outlet, then reconnect to the printer.
  • Turn the printer back on and check if the error persists.

Check the Printhead Installation

  • Open the printer cover and remove the ink cartridges.
  • Locate the printhead latch and unlock it.
  • Gently lift the printhead and check for:
  1. Dried ink blocking the nozzles.
  2. Bent or damaged connectors on the printhead.
  3. Any visible ink leaks.
  • Reseat the printhead firmly and lock it back.
  • Reinstall the ink cartridges.
  • Restart the printer and check for errors.

Manually Clean the Printhead (Deep Cleaning)

Since you've already cleaned the printhead, try this deep cleaning method:

  • Remove the printhead.
  • Soak the nozzles in warm distilled water (not tap water) for 10-15 minutes.
  • Gently shake off excess water and dry with a lint-free cloth.
  • Let the printhead air dry for 1 hour.
  • Reinstall it and check if the error persists.

Perform a Semi-Full Reset

This will reset the printer to factory settings!

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Press and hold Back (⤺) + Home (🏠) + Help (?) buttons together.
  • While holding, turn the printer on.
  • Release when the engineering menu appears.
  • Navigate to Resets > Semi-Full Reset.
  • Confirm and restart.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
