HP Photosmart 7510 All in one
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have recently replaced the printhead and installed new HP cartridges.  However the Photo Black is printing in majenta on  Printer Status Reports and on Print Quality Reports.   It is a new PhotoBlack cartridge.  I have tried cleaning the cartridges but this makes no difference.  All other colours are fine.  I cannot now print colour pictures as all the blacks print as majenta.

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate your time and effort.

Good to know that issue is fixed.

Even if you print in black, printer might use ink from color cartridges also to give best print quality.

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP Photosmart 7510 Printer. I understand that your are getting print quality issues and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,

Perform a power reset

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  6. Turn on the printer

Make sure the ink cartridges are properly vented and seated correctly.

Clean the printhead.

Clean the printhead manually.

Click here and refer the document to perform the above steps.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.

Thanks for your reply. I left the cartridges installed for a couple of days, and when I repeated the print test, it seems that the photo black has now started to print.  Perhaps it takes some time for the ink to penetrate through correctly when a new print head has been installed.  Is there supposed to be some magenta to mix with the black when printing, as I have notced befor that, when the photo black runs out, a test print shows only magenta until a new photo black cartridge is installed?  If so, what is the reason for this?  Thanks for yiour help on this.   Bill
