Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you. 

If the Information light (i button) on your HP DeskJet 2820 is blinking and the printer is not printing, it usually indicates that the printer needs attention or is waiting for user action. Let’s walk through the steps to resolve this:

Check for Error Messages

  • Look at the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel on your computer or mobile device.
  • The blinking Information light often means there's a message or prompt waiting (e.g., paper jam, low ink, or setup incomplete).

Reset the Printer

  • With the printer powered on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.
  • This can clear temporary errors.

Complete Setup (if new or recently reset)

  • If this is a new printer or has been reset, you must complete setup using the HP Smart app:
    • Download: HP Smart
    • Follow the prompts to finish setup and connect to Wi-Fi.

Check Ink Cartridges

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Make sure both cartridges are installed correctly and securely.
  • If recently replaced, ensure they are genuine HP cartridges.

Check Paper and Print Queue

  • Ensure paper is loaded correctly in the tray.
  • On your computer, clear any stuck print jobs:
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Right-click your printer > See what's printing.
    • Cancel all jobs and try printing again.
